Let's see...I'm a former equal-opportunity drug addict/alcoholic, half-Irish and half-German (which may account for some sort of genetic predisposition to get twisted!). I spent twenty-eight years in active addiction to one substance or another, and have been learning how to recover since June of last year. My learning curve is sorta flat sometimes, as I am working on yet another thirty-day chip. I have had one major (six-week) and four minor (one-to-three-day) relapses in the past thirteen months that have served to wake me up from my complacency, but those fallbacks have hurt those who love me. The last one ended up with me in the hospital on IV super antibiotics to fight off a mysterious cellulitis infection that localized in my left hand and wrist. I consider this a blessing because it makes me feel very small and powerless...I am finally under no false illusions of my ability to control anything, and a good hard look at my own mortality has left me very willing to listen and do what the Program requires me to do.

 I am focusing on making my life and my will both instruments of my Higher Power, which has always been the stumbling block I trip on. I am reaching out for enlightenment, strength, hope, instruction, asskickings, whatever it takes, I  WANT  THIS!!!

I've also been doing a myspace site and blog since January, and that is how I found out about this site. I am looking forward to becoming a part of this RECOVERY-ONLY community, and I hope I can add something positive.
