Update On My Son, Lee..Friday October 26th 2007
Posted on: 10/26/2007
Okay everyone,
Just a quick update on my boy. I
have been talking to him on the phone every night but ten minutes is
the longest he can talk for now while still under strict supervision.
He has moved up one level though which means he can go to the gym, have his shoes back and spend a little time outside.
He
is having a hard time. He has not felt well physically, partly because
they are increasing, changing and adding new medications and it is
making him ill physically until his body adjusts. He had a bad headache
he told me this evening and it wouldn't go away. He is depressed and
very sad. He wants to come home but he knows he needs to be there. He
is still hallucinating and having a hard time getting a long with the
other boys on the unit. They are almost full now which means there are
about 17 boys there on the unit now with him.
They had to
sedate him yesterday evening because he became angry and physical and
was not able to control himself or his anger. This was the last resort
after several times of the staff trying to get him to calm himself.
He
got really upset because some of the boys on his unit were joking about
running off and getting high, drinking or cutting themselves. They have
children there for substance abuse, cutting, starting fires, criminal
mischief, psychosis, depression etc. My son does not see the humor in
this and I tried to explain to him that their joking around about it is
just their way of coping with their pain and fear. As a result of all
that though he got in some arguments with them and they moved him over
to the girls side of the unit today. He was not happy about it but he
seemed to get very emotional and was not able to keep quiet or keep his
opinions to himself as far as the other kids behavior was concerned.
My
daughter and I are going to see him on Sunday, she gets off at 3 p.m.
and I need her to drive because I am having vision problems while on
the Interferon for my Hep C. I will keep you all posted on how he is
when I get to see and talk to him in person.
Thank You all again
so much for your kind words, emails, IM's, comments and for keeping my
son, me and our family in your prayers. It is greatly needed and
tremendously appreciated. This has been really hard and very emotional
for us all.
Hugs,
Karen C.
