I have resumed volunteering most mornings at the Red Cross (gets me out of bed), and I go to lots of 12-Step meetings, mostly NA, but there is one AA meeting I attend, and I also go to the Codependents Anonymous meeting on Mondays as well. I started working on the exercises in Melody Beattie’s book, at the suggestion of my counselor, in the early stages of my Meridian days. I wrote out 11 pages of codependent behaviors from the descriptions in her book! It has been very helpful to become aware of some of those behaviors. I don’t think or feel differently, but I am learning to act differently.
I have moved into my new apartment. It is a standard one-bedroom block quad just as are many apartments in this town. However, it is in a peaceful neighborhood in NW, which is an area of town I know well. It is not quite a dead end, but none of the streets is a through street, so it is just like one. The place is smaller than my old one, so some weeding out had to be done, but it also has a small courtyard with a wrought iron gate that is lockable, so I can store some things outside that had to be kept inside before. It is also on the first floor (one storey building), so I will not have to climb three flights of stairs all the time. I am satisfied and comfortable. I guess.
